I’ve got an admittedly odd review where I’m conflicted. I have the really unfortunate problem of loving the Dragon Ball Fusion World card game, and I’ve had good experiences purchasing at Side Deck before; but I’ve run into a growing frustration trying to buy the cards here. Trying to figure out when/if the store gets new product is like pulling teeth. No one knows about upcoming product, and people repeatedly tell me when I ask how little anyone there is interested in it. When the Manga Booster 01 set released it took me getting many inconsistent answers. One was “if we don’t have it for pre order on our website we don’t have it” to “I don’t know” to “check our Facebook we always advertise when we get new stock”. Their facebook never advertised they had them on sale. I had to jump through hoops to get a solid answer before finally finding them. I understand Dragon Ball is a less popular game here, and it makes more sense on paper to focus on what your customer base is mainly buying. But I can’t help but wonder if the continued disinterest in it is a self fulfilling prophecy. No one is promoting it so no one plays it there, therefore no one promotes it etc. But then again new sets ARE selling out, so I can’t even say it does super poorly. The only other conclusion I can really come to is that someone up top just doesn’t really care for it. I realize I’m yelling into a void here and am probably just salty. But if the store is that disinterested in carrying it, maybe take down the multiple Goku stickers and posters inside Show less

I’ve got an admittedly odd review where I’m conflicted. I have the really unfortunate problem of loving the Dragon Ball Fusion World card game, and I’ve had good experiences purchasing at Side Deck before; but I’ve run into a growing frustration trying to buy the cards here. Trying to figure out when/if the store gets new product is like pulling teeth. Unfortunately, they took my credit card from a scammer here - without seeing the actual card, and without the card they presented swiping. Very decent card shop(though not as big as other shops), they still get a great crowd for almost every tabletop game you can think of. They hold yugioh tournaments, pokemon, magic, DragonBall, one-piece, and many other tcg events. Fair price for trade-ins. They sell cards for almost every card gam... Read more

They hold yugioh tournaments, pokemon, magic, DragonBall, one-piece, and many other tcg events. Fair price for trade-ins. They sell cards for almost every card game, whatever gets traded in. They have a fair selection of tabletop games for sale or demo. They sell warhammer figures and paint. They have a vast variety of items to potentially purchase for board games as well. Their coffee bar isn't that bad either, many tasty drinks, and they make what you want, from the items they have in stock, fairly inexpensive to. They just redid their store it will surprise you when you see it, new floors and they moved all tables and shelves. They're still changing. They're now getting custom wooden tables, which look fantastic and very sleek, but they're not so wheelchair friendly, had an acquaintance show up to play, and they weren't really able to pull up close to the tables. It's not a huge store, but they manage the space they have very well and provide patrons with a cozy and inviting atmosphere to enjoy their chosen hobby. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and keep events running smoothly. Time is a precious commodity, and the fact that events run efficiently, and for the most part on time, is very important to me. Prices are fair and often lower than the other store in the area. The community is kid and family friendly, and there are more competitive players that show up for smaller events; not just the larger ones. The Side Deck is the gold standard for stores in the area. I just wish they had a location on the northeast side of Columbia so I could hang out there more often! Show less

Usually I always have a good experience at this shop. I’ve been coming here for about a year to buy cards to add to my collection. However I had this really bad encounter, with one of the workers. Specially this guy that wears a blue jacket. I asked if I could just take a look at a card. He refused and would not let me hold it. Which has never happened to me. Typically, I can understand but if I am going to spend money on a card, I would at-least appreciate being able to hold it. However that wasn't the main issue. His response is what made me furious. When I asked why, he just responded with “the door is right there”. I don’t know what his issue is. Ive never seen this guy before till recently but this interaction made me feel disrespected. I like all the other workers and the environment, but this was not a good experience for me. Really hope he finds a better purpose in life. Show less
