The food is fresh and the drinks are delicious, and with the new move, they've onky gotten more ambitious. This store is also somewhat kid friendly, and the staff are all too capable and willing to foster creativity and community in the kids by helping to gently teach game rules and help answer gaming questions. Last but far from least, the Java game haus is a diverse and inclusive workplace and space that takes a stand against bigotry and knows better than to tolerate regressive hateful ideologies in its doors. Whether you are new or old to RPG's, MTG, or just looking to find a new hobby destination, JGH is the place to go. Show less

My problem isn't with the place itself. Although there was a rancid smell upon entering that lingered and it was very hot and stuffy in there. Too many people to not have proper air flow. My problem is with the short female with black hair and the lisp over in the food section. After she made my husbands drink, I went to get him a straw and then grabbed my younger daughter and was proceeding to tell my other daughter that we were going to leave. This girl with the black hair comes over and yells at me, "I'M NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE BUT YOU CAN'T STAND HERE!" Stand where? I was getting my husband a straw for the $7 frappe I just bought, and also tipped you for which you didn't deserve with your lack of customer service, but I thought I'd be kind. There was no sign that I saw that mentioned not standing where we were standing. She could've waited one more moment because we were about to leave. And do not say you're not trying to be rude when clearly you are being rude and your tone and expression are filled with nothing but disdain. I was not rude to you, I was nothing but polite and even after that I smiled and replied with "ok." I do not go out and spend my hard earned money to be yelled at. Had this female come over with a courteous attitude and asked me to move, instead of with her crazy eyes and such a nasty face at me, I would not be giving this review. I don't care how busy it was or how frazzled you are. Get yourself together and provide quality customer service. I can go to McDonald's for an attitude like that and at least the frappe would be better. I will never come back. It was our very first time in, and it'll be our last. Show less

This person has an attitude problem and makes playing Magic here cumbersome. They seem bothered to be working and blame the customers for mistakes that they make. They spend the event cracking in-jokes with their friends and then act bothered when anybody not in their friend group talks to them. I hope management can talk to this person about their attitude and help them learn better people skills. Show less

The new location is by where Wing It used to be, and its beautiful and spacious inside. The cafe food is just as good as I remembered, with the cookies and creme frappe I got being top notch. Great selection of board games and a fantastic atmosphere.

First time here: Everyone that works there acts like they hate their life, no smile or anything and dismissive language, and that type of stuff starts at the too of business like this, not the bottom. Short girl with glasses was rude and dismissive when asked a question. Brown haired girl at the food counter rushed us. But, we just smiled and nodded nicely anyway. We walked in, ordered food and drinks, tipped, and sat down to play, and then long hair glasses guy rudely and smugly says “Why don’t you guys pay your table fees instead of just sitting down and playing your game.” I asked where to pay that and he sighed and said “either register” like it was this great errand that he had to say two words to us. How the hell are we supposed to know, they didn’t tell us when we checked out our food or when we walked in? Then he proceeds to go flirt with his girlfriend or whatever for the ENTIRE time we were there, they even went outside for like 20 minutes to stare at each other, while every other employee was hustling and getting their job done. Idk if he was a manager or employee, but it was extremely unprofessional. The vibe was cool otherwise, great game selection and chill people attending the venue, but the employees were just not handling customer service very well. It felt like we were imposing on them every time we had to talk to them. I’m not some karen that needs to feel important when I walk in somewhere, but I do need to feel like I am minimally welcome in the establishment. It just made us feel like we were burdens. Sorry for bothering you all with our business, I guess. Show less

I went here when I was visiting Jacksonville with my partner and genuinely had a great experience. I would highly recommend. When I'm back down in Jacksonville, I'll definitely be making another stop by! It's truly an amazing shop and I love that board game cafes are a fairly popular thing down here! I'm from Michigan and had never been to one before since it's not common up here where I'm at, let alone of this high tier, big space and great atmosphere. Java Game Haus Cafe has very kind, friendly and welcoming staff both in the shop and in the cafe area as well, and I truly had a great experience. At only $3 to play in the game room, it's a steal. They have a great selection and there were a lot of games that I've been wanting to play for a while that they have in their library. We also got food from their cafe which was two delicious flatbreads and two appetizers plus some drinks. I appreciate they sell a variety of alcohol as well and all in all, this place is a total gem that I'm super glad exists. Wish I lived closer! Show less
