I went to Contrarian's trying to get some MTG cards and I was very happy with the selection. I ended up getting quite a few Foundation's play boosters and kinda just randomly chose some. A very kind young lady helped me checkout and I was also very happy with the price I paid. I ended up pulling a Sire of Seven Deaths from one of the packs, one of the cards I was seriously looking for. All in all, I highly recommend. Even if you're thing isn't Magic: The Gathering, they've got plenty of other things to get invested into. Awesome place, fantastic prices, great atmosphere, wonderful and helpful employees. Looking forward to going again! Show less

I went to Contrarian's trying to get some MTG cards and I was very happy with the selection. I ended up getting quite a few Foundation's play boosters and kinda just randomly chose some. A very kind young lady helped me checkout and I was also very happy with the price I paid. Contrarian Gaming Cafe is simply amazing! Years ago, I used to commute to Portland and I would stop in to Off the Charts out in Gresham. They were famous for having Will Wheaton state that they were the “best game store around.” I think Contrarian lives up to that mark. The owner is very friendly and he is happy to talk to you about all things board game related and beyond. They have great prices on their food and their coffee is some of the best in town. Once I asked the owner if they had any Sun chips, a week later he had ordered some just to make me happy. It is a step above style game store that you go to if you want to build awesome memories. They were famous for having Will Wheaton state that they were the “best game store around.” I think Contrarian lives up to that mark. The owner is very friendly and he is happy to talk to you about all things board game related and beyond. They have great prices on their food and their coffee is some of the best in town. We ended up staying and ordering pizza from Mighty Munch Mtn Curry Pizza (they delivered our pizza to us at Contrarians!!! ... Read more

Instagram and Google reviews spoke, and we listened! We came to check it out on a date night, thinking maybe we'd play a game or two and then go on to dinner and other things. We ended up staying and ordering pizza from Mighty Munch Mtn Curry Pizza (they delivered our pizza to us at Contrarians!!! 😍😍😍) and enjoyed some more games. This store fills a giant hole in Vancouver. While some game stores can feel a bit dim and cluttered, this one is spacious; well lit; and so very clean. Their game library and the games they sell were organized so you can easily peruse the selection. They have a good variety of different size tables to accommodate small groups up to large parties. One of the owners (recognized him from Instagram) sat down with two customers and taught them how to play one of the games, which I thought was above and beyond the call of duty. Amazing. If you love games, come support this place! Their prices for food and games are totally reasonable! Show less

I worked in a game store when I was younger and have been to many over the years; this is by far one of the best I’ve ever seen. Extremely clean, open, inviting space, friendly service and well rounded community atmosphere that doesn’t seem to cater to one type of game over the others. Everything in the store was well organized and they had a broad selection of free to play games to choose from. The drinks were also reasonably priced and very delicious from what we tried. Lots of products priced below MSRP at a great value too. We are both excited to return and enjoy a game night at this lovely little community spot. Show less
