I love supporting Habitat anyway with volunteer time and donations to the restore, but as someone who often works from "flex offices" having a place I can go with good food, great coffee, a place to work and an ability to give back is simply amazing. A man exposed himself to me in this cafe on the second floor. We were alone and it happened suddenly. The man/mgmt spoke like he had done it before. This was a pleasant surprise. I've working at Habitat around the Triangle area before relocating here and they do not have cafes attached to them. Yet, this was much more than a cafe (see pictures of food, books, and movies)! The staff, like most Habitat locations, was very friendly and helpful. I learned that in the Charlotte area alone, Julia's cafe receives thousands of books each year which every folks can buy for as little as $1. But they have a special section set aside of rare books. Those books will cost a little more, yet nothing outrageous. Now, they also have movies for sale which looked brand new and perfect for cold days like we have coming up. On the way in or out, don't forget to grab a drink or pastry which looked amazing. I would definitely recommend stopping by! Show less

On the wall, there’s framed inspiring story about Julia & the history of how this place got started. About the coffee: Magnolia which is locally roasted was delicious. I asked if they’re affiliated with the organization next door & she told me they get the books from the donations. Yes, they work with Habitat & all of the proceeds go back to building for habitat. This is a terrific space with lots of room to just cozy up with some delicious coffee & maybe even find a perfect book to take home. They have a wonderful selection of books and a place to donate ones you no longer need to make space for the ones you're going to buy if you're anything like me. Highly recommend this spot, and I'm all too happy to sit up in the loft and read my purchases, but would also be a great place to study if coffee needs to be handy. I was able to visit this location today to work remotely. I shortly realized that I left my computer charger at home. I asked staff that's listed. Did they have a charger that is not the normal store services but they found me a charger and allowed me to use it Maddy, AJ, Maggy, and Thomas we're very helpful to me and I really appreciate it them for assisting me with services that the cafe does not usually offer. As a bit of a book nerd with a large used-book collection that I’m always adding to, this place is especially dangerous for me in the best possible way. If you take the time to browse, you’ll almost always find something worth bringing home. The sections are clearly labeled, well organized, and easy to navigate, which makes wandering around even more enjoyable. I found a book that interests me so purchased it and sat down to enjoy my coffee with it. Only thing I would change here is would be nice if a kitchen was attached and they could serve made to order items. I went early on a Saturday in hopes of a nice breakfast sandwich to go along with my coffee, but all I saw were prepackaged items. I ended up getting a chicken salad sandwich and chips which was good, just not what I would have chosen for breakfast lol Show less
