The Shanghai Tower is definitely worth visiting! It's a fascinating experience, and I highly recommend it. The prices are reasonable, and surprisingly, there aren't large crowds, which makes the visit more enjoyable. The best time to go is just before sunset for an unforgettable view. For an extra fee, you can go all the way to the top of the building, which I think is definitely worth it. There’s also an audio animation available that explains how the tower was built, which adds an interesting layer to the experience. One of the coolest features is the incredibly fast elevator, which is the fastest in the world! It’s an experience in itself. Tickets don’t need to be paid for in advance, and you can purchase them either with a card, cash, or Alipay, which makes the whole process quite convenient. All in all, I highly recommend visiting the Shanghai Tower. It’s a unique and memorable experience that you shouldn't miss! Show less

Shanghai Tower is one of the most impressive attractions in Shanghai and the third tallest tower in the world. The observation deck on the 118th floor offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire city—perfect for photography enthusiasts who want to capture the skyline. From the top, you can see the Huangpu River dividing the city into two parts. The river is always bustling with ships, adding to the spectacular scene. At the base and the top of the tower, you will find shopping areas where you can buy souvenirs such as miniature Shanghai Tower statues and handmade bracelets. Ticket Information: Ticket price is about 180–200 Yuan per person. If you are a foreign traveler, be sure to carry your passport and visa, as you will need to show them when purchasing tickets. The ground floor of Shanghai Tower also has a large shopping mall and a food court, making it easy to relax and enjoy a meal. The area surrounding the tower is filled with other tall, modern buildings, creating a beautiful cityscape worth exploring. Show less

Shanghai Tower surely gives you a better view that is incomparable to Pearl Tower. There were also less people at Shanghai Tower. Making it more pleasant since it was loud in the Pearl Tower observatory. The light show at the 125th and 126th floor was interesting but it was more marketing to collect more money as they utilize this space where the dampener lives for business gain. Would not recommend as I would rather spend the extra by going to the tower cafe and enjoy a snack there while enjoying the view. Show less

If you thought skyscrapers stopped at “tall,” Shanghai Tower politely laughs at you from 632 meters up in the sky. 🏙️ Opened in 2016, it’s the tallest building in China and the second tallest in the world. The design itself is a beauty: that spiraling glass twist isn’t just for show, it’s also an engineering flex against wind resistance. Inside? Imagine a vertical city—office space, hotels, sky gardens, and the world’s fastest elevators that zip you up at ear-popping speeds. Tip: • hop on a train to LuJiaZui 陆家嘴 via line 2 or 14, and wander around the Ming Zhu roundabout 明珠环岛. You’ll find Jin Mao Tower (Shanghai’s “OG tall guy”) and the space-agey Oriental Pearl Tower—all within photo-snapping distance and also one of the best angles for night shots. If you’re not running for time, after 10am is also where there is less crowds and ya have most of the runway for your best shots. The 118th-floor observation deck is the money shot—cloud selfies included. Show less

The Shanghai Tower is the city’s ultimate “look at me” skyscraper, twisting skyward like a giant metallic noodle in a futuristic ramen bowl. At 632 meters, it’s China’s tallest building and a global giant, though just shy of Malaysia’s Merdeka 118, proving even Shanghai has a rival to keep it humble. Step inside and the lobby feels like a luxury spaceship. Elevators zip you up at breakneck speeds, making you question gravity, mortality, and why you ever complained about stair climbing. At the observation deck, 26 million people below resemble an ant convention, scurrying past each other with a mix of purpose and existential dread. The design twists in a way that’s oddly elegant, like a ribbon caught in a hurricane, and the glass panels reflect the skyline so well you might think you’ve entered an alternate Shanghai made entirely of light. Shanghai Tower is my favorite building, especially at night when it lights up, turning the skyline into a glowing futuristic dreamscape. Photographers rejoice, vertigo enthusiasts scream internally, and casual tourists feel simultaneously tiny and fabulous. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to stand on top of a city, literally, and feel like a futuristic demigod surveying their miniature human subjects. Show less

Take the high-speed lift to the 118th-floor observation deck, then head up the staircase to the 119th floor for another viewing level. It had rained the day before & the sky was completely overcast ☁️. By the time we reached the deck, everything was buried in clouds — zero visibility, like standing inside a giant steam room 😶🌫️ Credit to the staff: they were very gracious & offered refunds since nothing could be seen 👍 We still stayed because we also came for the Damper Light Show For the Sky632 Light Show on the 126th floor, you’ll need to buy tickets on the 118th floor deck. A guide will bring you to a separate lift lobby leading to the 1,000-ton Damper Exhibition Hall After the show, take the same lift 🛗 back down to 118, then transfer to the main lift back to the basement souvenir shop exit. Shanghai Tower was truly one of the highlight in the city of Shanghai. It is the tallest building in China standing at 630m and one of the tallest in the world, it is a masterpiece that immediately leaves you in wow moment even before you get inside the building. It has a modern design and futuristic. The experience becomes even more joyful once you enter. The lifts were so fast and smooth, journey to the observation deck was so quick from ground floor. Within seconds, you are on top of the building, amazing panoramic views of Shanghai. The view of the city skyline, the River view, and the surrounding high rise buildings are an absolutely beautiful, both during the day and at night. The deck is very spacious, clean, and properly organised for the visitors to move around comfortably and enjoy the views from different angles. The glass walls offer clear visibility, making it perfect for photos and videos. Staff members are friendly, professional, and helpful, which is overall positive. This Tower is not just about height, it represents innovation, engineering excellence. I highly recommend adding Shanghai Tower to your itinerary for an unforgettable and inspiring experience. Climbing up during the day gives clear view, at night go to the Bund area and see the buildings, it’s fully lit and some buildings even got some projection lights. Show less

Mind Set On Travel
2 months agoSuch an amazing view from 118 floors up. The elevator journey was very quick and max speed was 18m/sec. A complete circular view of the city. One can see all the boats on the river and even relax on floor 119 and have a refreshment or even had a bite to eat on the Cafe.

Standing at the top of Shanghai Tower really puts the scale of the city into perspective. The elevator ride itself is an experience — incredibly fast and smooth — and within seconds you’re looking down at a completely different version of Shanghai. The observation deck offers a unique view compared to other skyscrapers nearby. Instead of just wide-open scenery, you get this layered, vertical cityscape with surrounding towers almost at eye level, which feels both futuristic and slightly surreal, especially at night. The interior design is modern and spacious, and the whole visit feels well organized without being rushed. It’s not just about the height — it’s about how the building makes you feel small while the city feels endless. If you want to truly understand Shanghai’s scale and ambition, this is the place to do it. Show less
