I've been to the locations in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Both stores are light on products, but can easily help a customer order what they want. However, both locations have massive gaming rooms perfect for tournaments and large-scale events which they hold on a regular basis. There's something going on pretty much every day. The Virginia Beach location has an additional smaller room that looks like it could be a tavern in Faerûn. The store also supplies the terrain - many tables in the back for card or board games -a room dedicated to TTRPGs - great sales on merchandise - very fair prices on cards (this has to be emphasized) - Paint! This place rules! I planned a visit during my vacation after some Google searching, and I'm sure glad I did. I went here on a mission to get into oldskool Magic the Gathering and they totally delivered. Frank at the counter was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful, and answered all of my questions. I also chatted with some regulars/locals who were all extremely nice, and tolerated my yapping! Frank warned me that oldskool Magic doesn't have a huge community, but directed me to the oldest cards in the shop! Which were organized by set so it made it easy to look up things that would work with the Premodern community ruleset, etc. I also caved and got a cool modern Commander set that Frank pointed out, so I will have something to play with my buddies. I picked up a few of the Pokemon 151 reissue cards, and got a binder and sleeves for my new pickups. So thanks to Tower of Games, Frank, and all of the kind people who work at and visit this shop, I'm in now! I have some starting pieces for my hipster nostalgia oldskool meme deck, and a whole Commander zombie deck to try out soon. Thanks yall! This place has some nice things going for it like interesting events, opportunities to play games with your friends and hangout, and a variety of games and accessories they sell. However, I notice most of the games dont peak to my interest, (tho to be fair I have strict standards for games I want to own due to how expensive they can be) and these events dont seem very beginner friendly specifically for playing with strangers. I think this store might wanna try doing events more centered around playing with new people, because I've tried a couple events here but wasnt able to sucessfully get the ball rolling because of the vibe. I see some potential for excellence with this store but it just hasnt reached that yet. Show less

I used to love this place... Not anymore. MTG bulk is way too expensive. Used to sell for rare and mythic foils for 20 cents in the bulk and common and uncommon for 10 cents. Why raise prices, just to sit on cards you can't sell? Also, what is with 50 people hanging out in front of the register... Read more

Why raise prices, just to sit on cards you can't sell? Also, what is with 50 people hanging out in front of the register talking? Maybe take the conversation to one of the many tables they have in the store so people can look at the cards they have for sale behind the register. I'm sorry to have to write this and I really hope that I can still frequent this location but my experience the other night was really unfortunate. I love the products that you guys offer and I just came in for about 20 minutes to look over board games and painting supplies but some of the players in the store made that a really rough experience. I like Warhammer as much as the next guy and love that there's a local place that people can get together and play. That said, a couple of players had their things unpacked right in front of your selection of board games and I'm not about to touch somebody else's fragile miniatures. I squeezed back behind and got what look I could at the available products but I couldn't stay long because I was having problems tolerating the smell of the general area. It's hard to regulate somebody else's body and unfortunately gaming interests get a really bad reputation because of a few particularly problematic offenders. I just don't understand the thought process that leads someone to go out to a social space without first showering or wearing deodorant. It has gotten to the point where my wife won't even come to local game stores with me because of this problem. I'll give it another shot but it's getting really close to me just calling it quits and ordering things online when I want them which I really would rather not do Show less

I'm sorry to have to write this and I really hope that I can still frequent this location but my experience the other night was really unfortunate. I love the products that you guys offer and I just came in for about 20 minutes to look over board games and painting supplies but some of the players in the store made that a really rough experience. I came in to see what they would offer for a couple of my cards, I placed my cards on the penny sleeves after taking them out she then picked them up to look at them and rubs the edges of my cards(this only worsens wear), then placed them upside down facing the holo against the counter (creating micro scratches) and then proceeds to offer me 50% market price lmao I get trying to make profit but winning big on all of your purchases leaves the customers dry lmao. And I understand other shops might do this too but it doesn’t mean you have to do it as well. The slight convenience of driving to this shop isn’t worth losing half the value of your cards.Theres no way they’re handling business like this if they truly thought I was knowledgeable on my own accord. They seem to be relying on the desperate and blind lmao. Show less

This is a great place to go for anyone looking for a game to play. They have everything CCG like Magic, Star Wars, Lorcana and more. There are tabetop games like War Hammer (I unfortunately don't know the others). The event calendar is full of structured events for everyone, even commander. This is probably my favorite thing about Tower. If you aren't good at meeting new people you won't have anything to worry about, because you get matched up with a group for the event. Update: Tower is increasing the bulk magic prices at all rarities from double to triple their current. Show less

This is a great place to go for anyone looking for a game to play. They have everything CCG like Magic, Star Wars, Lorcana and more. This is probably my favorite thing about Tower. If you aren't good at meeting new people you won't have anything to worry about, because you get matched up with a group for the event. The line continued to grow and the other two employees were just chilling at the other cash register not assisting the still growing lin... Read more

Plenty of tables to play which is never a complaint. However, during the middle of my trade-in the employee continued to pause the trade to assist other customers. The line continued to grow and the other two employees were just chilling at the other cash register not assisting the still growing line. After nearly 22 minutes of my trade being interrupted by customers who came after me they were finally able to continue the trade. The area in the store is fantastic but how they handle servicing the customers is not. It would be a tad different if there was only one employee at the counter. The fact two others were just standing idle at the other register and not assisting does not have me wanting to purchase product or do trades at this location, nor recommend it to others. Show less

These shops are legendary. Or were. I’m not gonna leave a petty 1 star - but Tower of Games may have lost their way. I walked in with a binder of about 50 singles, nothing less than $300 value a piece. I just wanted to trade for some cards - and I couldn’t do that without giving my name, number, email and yadda yadda. Just trade me cards dude. Literally the girl was disinterested in even seeing the cards I had - again, didn’t want cash (or rather I was willing to settle for trade) just kinda weird. Was even told to try other stores - interesting business tactic, and it worked! Kaboom is still incredible. I still bought a few Commander Masters packs here - and the store looks awesome, you’ve definitely got a problem with employee attitudes but it’s also not their fault the store policy is…lacking. From a long time customer (I went to your other location 20+ years ago) - you’re alienating your base. From a guy leaves a 5 star rating off $100 spent on a BAD visit, do better. The only reason why it is 4 instead of 5 stars is because if you come in while multiple tables are being used... it makes it hard to move around the front of the store. Understanding the draw of seeing some playing tables they would probably be better suited for the back area that is a little clearer. Plus (i do NOT blame the store for this) when you run across a rude player who gives attitude to a kid trying to move around them to see for sale items... it makes it less of a nice experience. So I newly found this place due to my children liking D&D. It has tons of Role playing games and add-ons, dice and other things. They have limited Pokémon things but some. The staff is extremely helpful and respectful. The only reason why it is 4 instead of 5 stars is because if you come in while multiple tables are being used... it makes it hard to move around the front of the store.
